Housekeeping and General Services

HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES

The Housekeeper will have prepared the flat for your arrival in advance and you will find a stock of food and drinks in the kitchen for your use.  Beds will have been made up, towels put out for you and the flat will be clean and tidy.  All the appliances should be working and the heating regulated according to the season (though this is adjustable by visitors).

The Housekeeper is available at 8am on weekday mornings and if required she can make early morning breakfasts for executives on business.  Those guests visiting on holiday are asked to be self catering, although the housekeeper will arrange any extra cleaning if possible when needed.   If you require any additional foodstuffs, drinks or general supplies, please ask the Housekeeper who can help and advise you.  Her services are available from Monday to Friday.  Visitors are respectfully asked to keep the flat in good order and to report any problems to the Housekeeper.

The Housekeeper is responsible for the household laundry but there is an external dry-cleaning service should you require it (ask porters for details). You can expect your bedlinen to be changed once a week and clean towels provided whenever needed.  There is a washer-drier machine in the flat for your personal laundry.

The Housekeeper relies on visitors to inform her of any breakages, accidents or malfunctions that you notice.  Please always bring such things to her attention as soon as possible so she can keep the flat at a high standard of repair at all times.  She will also note any personal requests you may have for future visits, such as particular food preferences.

Both the Housekeeper and the Porters are knowledgeable about the area and will do all they can to help you during your stay in London.

24 HOUR SECURITY

A Porter is on duty at the main desk 24 hours a day.  You will find security cards in the flat which will allow you entry at the main door, but, should you forget your card, you can ring the door bell and the Porter will come and let you in.

POSTAL SERVICE

There is an internal post box at the Security desk.  Post is collected daily and stamps for parcels and letters can be bought from any Post Office or Newsagent and some supermarkets.  Any incoming parcels for the flat will be left at the Porters’ Desk so check there if you are expecting any deliveries.

TAXI SERVICE/MINICAB HIRE

The Porters will call you taxis.  When you require a taxi, please ring the Porters’ Desk (using the entry phone system) and they will call one to the building and let you know when it arrives.  The porters can also advise you of local minicab firms (more economical for longer journeys).

LAUNDRY COLLECTION AND DELIVERY

There is a laundry service to Kingston House East by Kensington Dry Cleaners (next day return service Mon-Thurs; Friday collections returned on Mondays).  Please inform the Porter before 0900 if you require it (useful for suits and shirt service) and pay the porters after delivery.

MILK DELIVERY

The Milkman delivers to Kingston House East normally in the afternoons (Mon-Sat) You can order some basic provisions, such as milk, bread, butter, cheese, bacon, eggs and fruit juice and mineral water.  If you want to use this service you should place your order at the Porters’ Desk in advance and leave cash for payment.

NEWSPAPER AND JOURNALS

Speak to the Manager (Porters’ Desk) well in advance if you want to order newspapers or journals which is possible if you are on a visit of a week or more.  Otherwise the nearest Newsagent is 10 minutes walk away.

RUBBISH COLLECTION

Rubbish will be collected every morning from the flat.  All rubbish must be properly wrapped in bin bags and placed ready for collection in the bin cupboard, which is right next to the front door.

EMERGENCY REPAIRS AND HEATING REGULATION

In case of emergencies such as a water or gas leak, or an electrical fault, please contact the Manager via the Porters’ Desk for help immediately and let the Housekeeper know.

The Heating is controlled centrally for the building but individual radiators can be adjusted.  The flat is not air-conditioned but there is a large Dyson fan, plus a Dyson Hot/Cool fan and an extra electric fan in the main bedroom.   All the windows can be opened and have blinds and these can help with temperature control.
